Energy Security in Israel

Israel is the strongest U.S alley in the the middle east. same as the U.S, Israel is a commited democracy which is trying to establish an energy independece of the volatile market of fossil fuels. Israel maintains a strong hi-tech industry including SOLEL,the world's leading manufacturer of solar thermal power plants. unfortunatly, untill this year, the Israeli government didnt invest in renewable energy for domestic supply. The following article, taken from the ministry of national infrastructure of Israel site, describes a change of direction for Israel. Leaded by its President, Mr. Shimon Perez, Israel is planning to decrease its dependence on fossil fuels and increase its energy security by committing to building one solar power plant per year in the southern NEGEV desert region. if this ambitous plan will succeed, whithin a dacade, solar energy will account for 35% of Israel's energy supply.
