Help the Rockland Farm Alliance by filling out their survey!
Dear neighbors,
I have a favor to ask: Can you print and complete this survey (see attached) and then send it to the Rockland Farm Alliance?
The survey is part of the first phase of the Rockland Farm Alliance's (RFA) efforts to get to know the farming and the local food demand and supply in the county. The RFA was formed last year to "provide assistance in nurturing local farming" and has members like farmers (whether biodynamic, organic or conventional), nursery owners, farmers market shoppers, other local food vendors and buyers, and people like me who value local food for a variety of reasons. Food grown in our county benefit an open beautiful landscape. Buying locally grown products (food or flowers or honey...) benefit our local economy and support our farmers who have farmed here for generations. Local farms and their products also benefit us who can enjoy food that has not traveled hundred of miles in refrigerated trucks from out of state, or out of the country. Promoting local foods and our local growers I feel is an important step for a sustainable future.
This particular survey asks us residents to contribute our ideas and habits when it comes to locally grown products. Please note that for the purposes of the study, "locally grown" is defined as foods produced within a 100-mile radius of Rockland County.
I personally think the RFA is one of the most exciting endeavors in the county today, and I really want to help them out. It would be great to get surveys from all parts of the county, both from a geographic and a cultural point of view.
The surveys are to be completed and sent to RFA: 126 Camphill Road, Pomona, New York 10970.
