As some of you know, United water is planning to build a disalination plant in Rockland. operation such plant requires tremendous amount of energy, creates tremendous amount of waste, and supply us with treated Hudson water instead of fresh lake of ground water.
Although we don't want a drought to disturb our water supply, we want United water to invest in public conservation campaign first. there is no point in drinking treated Hudson water when your neighbour is overwatering his lawn with fresh lake or ground water.
If this issue is importsant to you, you should come to a special water meeting organized by the Rockland chapter of the Sierra Club on June 19, 7pm at the Skylark dinner in Nyack.
thanks for your support in this very important matter.
