We Are Awake

Thinking globally, acting locally

An old college friend just started this company in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They plan to produce 100,000 gallons a of diesel that meets industry and govt specs.

that's amazing. Does your friend have an idea of how many cars are in Kalamazoo that can handle the fuel? I wonder if there was a popular demand for it or if they're trying to make it happen by first creating an available fuel source, and hoping that folks will begin switching to diesel cars...

you should invite this guy to this site to have him talk about it directly... maybe he'd be willing to be the resident expert in biofuels and can maintain a forum area, or chime in here and there

It looks like the idea is that they make diesel that any diesel vehicle can use without filtering or having 1 tank for petroleum diesel and 1 for veggie -- I think they will primarily target fleets (city buses and such). But since the new cleaner diesel is being produced more in the US -- so that cars that use diesel can meet stringent emissions standards -- I'm hoping the US will be more like Europe where something like 40% of cars are diesel. A lot of european imports -- like my Audi -- are available only in europe as diesels.
