Each spring, millions of people across the U.S. join forces to "cleanup and greenup" their communities via the Great American Cleanup, sponsored by Keep America Beautiful.
Here in RocklandCounty the annual effort involves up to 2500 volunteers, over 175 cleanup events large and small, and nets about 25-30 tons of trash from streets, parks, streams and beaches. Cleanup leaders (parents, teachers, businesses, civic groups, Scout troops and others) are the key to a successful campaign, and KRB goes to great lengths to serve their needs.
KRB services include:
* Free t-shirts, trash bags and other supplies for volunteers via sponsor recruitment, while supplies last.
* Guidance on site selection and volunteer coordination.
* Campaign publicity via street banners, temporary signs and traditional media.
* Referrals of volunteers to existing cleanup crews.
* Recognition and celebration of volunteers via the campaign Kickoff and Volunteer Reception events.
Will you lead a cleanup? Just pick a place, time and date, and then recruit some friends to join you. KRB will help make it a fun and rewarding experience — and don’t forget to take pictures!
Use the on-line registration form to tell us about your plans and to get help, or talk with a KRB staff person right now by calling the Litter Hotline: 845-708-9164. Help yourself to ideas and tips for successful cleanups contained in our cleanup coordinator's tip sheet. Also, check out this list of some of our regular cleanup crews. As we approach the Great American Cleanup target date we will maintain a current list of cleanups planned around the County to help recruit volunteers for these events -- please call KRB for contact info for any event listed.
We should do this as a group, anyone interested?
