We Are Awake

Thinking globally, acting locally

In Deep Economy, Bill McKibben, the founder of "Step It Up" campaign, develops the timeless concepts "Small is Beautifull" and "Less is More" into a powerful and provokative manifesto. McKibben offer us a new way to look at the things we buy, the food we eat, and the economy that delivers it all.

The main idea is that we need to think beyond "Growth" being an economic ideal and start developing wealthy sustainable communities.

Deep Economy portrays a chilling description of the global food industry and offers an alternative route that includes supporting local food growing, and living a lifestyle which is less about consumption and more about interaction.

Bill McKibben is the author of ten books, including "The End of Nature" (which I am reading now) and "Stop Global Warming Now" which tells the story of the "Step It Up" campaign and how to motivate groups to take action to fight global warming.
