We Are Awake

Thinking globally, acting locally

To all wildlife lovers:

If you have a decent peice of land you call a back (or front) yard then you can now learn how to turn it into a wildlife habitat in just a few simple steps. first, you log on to the National Wildlife Federation site and answer a survey which will tell you if your site is already qualified as a wildlife habitat or not.

if not, you can figure out by the type of question what do you need in order to turn it into one. wildlife need food, water, shelter and a place to raise their young ones. wildflowers, weeds, and fruit trees are all sources of food. rainbarrrel can be a birds bath and a source of wildlife drinking water, the bushes and trees provide shelter and a place to raise yound ones.

once you make sure you got what it takes, make a small donation, as low as $15, to the NWF and you will recieve an impresive certificate and a bird feeder kit. Most importantly, you will learn how to garden for wildlife and how gardening helps to protect wildlife from global warming.

Enjoy (I did)
